Friday 23rd May 2008
Bruce had a forced day off today as they all had to go and play golf. So we dragged ourselves out of bed for a 6.30am breakfast and I left for the chiropractor. Can't believe how different chiropractors are but I felt so much better after the visit. We left for home at 1.30pm and got home at 6.15pm which is pretty good. We had a hot chocolate and sticky date pudding in Gunning, which has a lovely cafe. The house looks pretty good. The kitchen needs a wipe over and mop but the boys have done a good job keeping things clean, and I've restocked the fridge. It's great to be able to use the internet again and get all the photos on the blog. I don't think wireless is as good as they say as the connection kept cutting out which is no good for loading photos. I'm looking forward to our own bed tonight. It doesn't seem cold here at all!

Thursday 21st May 2008

Yay! Last night was the last full night's sleep that I've had since we arrived here. I was awake just before Bruce's alarm clock went off - Agadoo was played which I thought was really really weird as he has it tuned to the ABC in Sydney. So I got up and went to work with him at 7am and left at 12.30pm as I still don't have a log on to the computer. I thought I could go off to knitting group, so came home and got my knitting and off I went. It's really warm outside today. Anyway, when I was about 3 shops from the craft shop I suddenly realised that today is Thursday - duh!! Knitting group is Wednesday, so I came back home and I'm going to sit and knit for a while, while the washing finishes drying on the line.
We're going away for the weekend. Destination? Sydney, lol. We're going home. I'm sure it will feel a little strange but after I've mopped the kitchen and bathroom floor it will feel like home. The boys are great with vacumming and sweeping but mopping just isn't one of their skills. Usually when we've been away the house looks really good, so I'm not worried. Bruce is working late tonight as they have a golf day tomorrow, so we'll be heading home after lunch. I have a list of things to bring back - flannelette sheets. The owners have left sheets on the bed but I'd rather warm ones. I can't figure out how we'd have them washed and back on the bed before we leave. Their white!! I thought only motels had white sheets!! I can remember sleeping on purple sheets is Mudgee. I also would like a kettle, they have a water filter that does boiling water but I don't think it makes your hot chocolate as hot as it should be! I also need my woollen coat. The gas oven here is really hard to light, we had a friend who is used to using gas and she had trouble so I have no hope. So I'll go home and cook something and put it in the oven!!
Today I got up early and went to work for a 7.30am start. I came home for lunch and had about 10 ducks following me, right up to our front door (easy since the lagoon is across the road) and then realised I had bread rolls in a clear plastic bag and they thought it was lunchtime. When I walked back to work they didn't take any notice of me!! I walked to the shops after work and walked past the most beautiful gardens, more photos to come, watch out!!

The photo was taken outside the Quest.
Today we set off for church. We were planning to go to a church where we attended a wedding 2 years ago. Friends had a son marrying down here and their daughter and my daughter are best friends (she was chief bridesmaid at Lauren's wedding. We went the the girl's parents (Paul and Janeen) place for lunch on the Sunday and we all got along well. I'd also found out that the current Minister was the same guy who married our daughter 4 years ago!! Anyway, we were chatting with the Minister's wife, Lyn and then we were talking about how we knew Paul and Janeen, then Lyn disappeared and came back and asked us to there place for lunch as they were having Janeen and Paul to their place as well. So, we came home 7 hours later!! There were 12 people for lunch and Bruce and I (not desperate to return to the bedsit!!) hung around and washed up, had a coffee and left. So another day without being cooped up inside!! Lyn and Ross's daughter Hannah is in Year 12 and free tomorrow. She is soooooooooo sweet, I asked her to help me move tomorrow, she seems like good company and then found out that she was the daughter who was comatose in hospital (Ross mentioned it in his sermon) as she'd had an aneurism and had to have it removed and replace (not sure why??) She has a few problems with her health but seems pretty good otherwise okay. Not much to do really, Bruce has already packed the car as he should be at work.
The picture shows the street from where we're staying. The cars are there because of the primary school and just down the end of the street is the shopping centre. The trees just look beautiful!! I guess they'll be bare soon??

We set off for Janet country today, stopped at her local bakery and bought lunch and then ate sitting outside her house in the car as she wasn’t home yet. It was too cold to sit in any park today!! So there was the lovely, welcoming Janet. I saw more of Janet than I expected as it was the undercoverwear party and I think she tried on everything!!! It was a nice group of goilies and it was hard to get up and leave!!!

Of course, the usual bath photo, baby Sarah was sleepy but both the girls thought that Mr Bruce was fun to play with. Bruce sat in the back room reading his book quite happily as that’s what he would’ve done if he’d stayed behind.

Thankyou Janet xx

Today we got to move to a studio, a bar fridge, a microwave and a double hot plate. Hmmm, spaghetti, mince and sauce
!! You certainly need to be friends to live so squished in!! But it's only until Monday until we move.
We haven’t felt cold yet. We’ve been laughing at the people wearing scarves and coats and wondering why??? We
walked to the movies tonight and saw What Happens In Vegas and it was funny with no swearing. We entered the cinema at 6.50pm for a 7pm start then realised Ashton Kuchter and Cameron Diaz were on the screen
!! We saw the ending, then the lights came on and everyone left!! At 7pm we saw two trailers and then the movie and were home before 9pm.
We’ve booked to see Jimeoin at the Civic Theatre in a couple of weeks and can walk to that too. It’s all good!
See how small the room is?

Happy Dance!! The house is PERFECT and we’re all signed up. The tenants leave Sunday for overseas and are leaving us sheets and towels and everything. I suggested that put as much as they want in their baby girl’s room and padlock the door, save them the trip of up and down the stairs and having to list all that they leave. It has 2 double bedrooms and a sunny study with a verandah (perfect for crafting in!!) and it has your usual kitchen, lounge, dining, laundry AND a clothesline in the backyard. It includes everything, even them letting me use their wireless internet.

Oh, and the Mum has been in ABA and we have helped her lots!!

Wagga stay - diary

Wednesday 14th May 2008
You know what? I’ve had so many good days I guess I was due for a bad one! I took the car down to hang some washing out at another counsellor’s house (with her ok of course) as she was at work and I hate using dryers, lol. Then the car wouldn’t start. That wasn’t the frustrating bit though as the NRMA man was very prompt and got it started and said the battery had collapsed inside and it wouldn’t start again. Fine, we just need a new battery. Nuh-uh. This is a LEASED car so you have to do what they say. So the queen of arrogance answered the phone and had me in tears, she was just awful and I was being kind as I’d driven back to where we’re staying and left the car running so I could go and use the phone. So the problem is that they need me to take them the car and leave it with them for 12 hours while they try and recharge it, and if that doesn’t work then they put a new battery in (they’re ‘special’ apparently) and then the new one take 12 hours to charge!! Oh, I said so what do we do for a car in the meantime, she suggested we get another leased one and was very hostile about it. So I went and picked Bruce up and he dropped me at an appointment*(just up the road) and he dealt with her and found her horrible too. I thought maybe it was just me?? Nuh.

*Appointment = I worked out that this 2 bedroom ‘serviced’ apartment costs $225 a night, 1 bedroom $175 a night. I would rather have a house, with a clothesline and an oven that works! Especially if my sister or my boys come to visit. Anyway, I found a beautiful home $550 with cream carpet, cream lounge but would need my own linen, pots, pans, cutlery and the whole cream thing is a bit scarey lol. It’s in a nice spot. There is another house we haven’t seen yet that becomes available tomorrow for 3 months so we are looking at that one tomorrow. Fingers crossed please!!

So at 12.30 I walked a block to a knitting group at the local craft shop (free) which have tea and coffee and comfy chairs and just sat there and knitted for 3 hours which made me feel soooooooooooooo much more human. One other lady there with kids the same age as me, goes to church etc etc, we had a lot in common so it was noice chatting. She said they usually get more turn up but I was glad it was just her today. She’s a local, I was hoping to meet someone down here for a few months like me. She said there were some like that last week. Oh well.

I came home and had some raisin toast and now all is good with the world. Bruce is taking me to the club for dinner only he doesn’t know it yet. The club is next door!

Tuesday 13th May 2008

I took the trusty camera around to the next street and took a photo of Yvette’s Grandmother’s old house. Yvette is another of our ‘buddies’ who lives in Melbourne and is coming to stay!!!

Monday 12th May 2008

Well we have arrived. We got out of bed at 5.30am, groan. We left at 6 and got here just after 10. We stopped for hot choc and toast at Gunning on the way. We ended up in a 2 bedroom apartment rather than a studio for this week which we are very pleased about. Interesting to go shopping for just about everything, but we’ll use most of it up in 12 weeks!!

Here’s a photo of Bruce on his first day at work, lol.

Sunday, before we leave for Wagga!

Amazing what can be achieved before living in Wagga for almost 4 months. A car in the garage!!
